Clinical Trial Registry
of the University Medical Center Freiburg

The clinical trial registry of the University Medical Center Freiburg gives an overview on ongoing clinical trials or trials which have been carried out at the Medical Center. It supports the planning of new studies, provides information for physicians, patients and the general public.

At the end of 2004 the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) published an editorial in which the editors informed that from 1 July 2005 onward all publications on clinical trials will only be accepted for publication, if they have been prospectively registered (N Engl J Med. 2004 Sep 16; 35 (12):1250-1).

For ongoing trials the editors extended the period for registration to 13 September 2005.

Since 1 January 2004 it has been mandatory to register all clinical trials conducted at the University Medical Center Freiburg at the Clinical Study Registry (UKFReg). This was decided by the faculties' and hospital's respective board of directors and supported by the ethics commission.

We would like to inform you that the Clinical Trial Registry of the University Medical Center Freiburg completely meets all the criteria demanded by the ICMJE and the WHO. The UKFReg is a Partner Registry of the WHO Primary-Registry DRKS (German Clinical Trials Registry).
